Freestanding Panels, Cruise Ship
INTERIOR DESIGN Sylvia Stevens
Freestanding shoji panels separating table windows in this restaurant needed to be exceptionally strong and durable for “a life at sea.” A rigid, non-puncturable insert was used that was could be withstand daily cleaning and contact. Panels were installed slightly off the floor to allow for ease of cleaning and toe kick room in this tight space. The shoji also needed to be easily moved, yet perfectly stable if leaned upon. While the shoji were securely attached to the floor, they could be repositioned if a different floor plan was needed.
Tall enough to allow privacy, but not block the outside views, the shoji created intimate dining areas using minimal floor space.
