Disappearing Shoji
INTERIOR DESIGN Custom Interiors by Cindy Taylor
This high angled ceiling, eliminated the possibility of a top-mounted sliding track for these shoji. A small end pocket had already been built for a folding partition to divide the room that was quite narrow. When the partition did not work out, shoji were considered. Given the million dollar ocean view beyond, it was important that the shoji and any hardware stacked completely out of the way.
Brian designed some telescoping track to enable the narrow panels to slide across the opening, completely enclosing the space when needed. When not in use, the shoji stack neatly in the right pocket.
